**Business Unit Leader**:
**What is the job?**

Our Thorlabs Dortmund office specialises in the design and manufacture of a niche range of ultrasonic piezo motor based motion control solutions using our patented Elliptec drive technology. This small and well establish operation of around 10 people has experienced double digit business growth in recent years and is now poised for the next level of significant market and portfolio expansion.

**Was ist die Aufgabe?**

Unsere Thorlabs-Niederlassung in Dortmund ist auf die Entwicklung und Herstellung einer Nischenproduktpalette von Bewegungssteuerungslösungen auf der Basis von Ultraschall-Piezomotoren unter Verwendung unserer patentierten Elliptec-Antriebstechnologie spezialisiert. Das kleine und gut etablierte Unternehmen mit etwa 10 Mitarbeitern konnte in den letzten Jahren ein zweistelliges Wachstum verzeichnen und ist nun bereit für die nächste Stufe einer bedeutenden Markt
- und Portfolioexpansion.

Für einen technisch versierten, kreativen und strategisch denkenden Geschäftsmann wurde eine aufregende neue Stelle als Geschäftsbereichsleiter geschaffen, um dieses Unternehmen in die nächste Phase der beschleunigten Expansion durch die weitere Entwicklung des Produktportfolios und die Entdeckung neuer Markt
- und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten zu führen.

Der erfolgreiche Kandidat verfügt über einen ersten Hochschulabschluss (oder einen gleichwertigen Abschluss), ist mit umfangreichem Projektmanagement in einem F&E-Design-Umfeld vertraut, typischerweise im Bereich elektromechanisches Design, und wird für alle operativen und Produktentwicklungsaspekte verantwortlich sein und diese überwachen. Sie werden ihre starken Führungs
- und Mitarbeiterfähigkeiten einsetzen, um die Anstrengungen aller Beteiligten im Streben nach Wachstum zu bündeln. Ein Verständnis der LEAN-Fertigungsinstrumente und -Grundsätze wäre für den Erfolg in dieser Position von großem Vorteil. Diese neue Position bietet einem selbständig denkenden Unternehmer die Möglichkeit, dieses Unternehmen mit großem Potenzial zu einem großen und bedeutenden Mitglied der Thorlabs-Unternehmensgruppe auszubauen.

**What we would you like you to do**
- Overall leadership of the vertically integrated manufacturing and design team
- Work collaboratively with the Financial Controller to create annual departmental budgets.
- Ensure appropriate cost control measures and efficiency improvements are maintained and that performance against budget is achieved.
