We are seeking a skilled Construction Lawyer to assist in both contentious and non-contentious aspects of our build programme of hyperscale data centres.

**OUTCOMES**
- Partner with the wider DCS legal team and support colleagues in the development and delivery teams in Germany.
- Management of governance, record keeping and compliance with all applicable laws, corporate rules and Colt Standards
- Negotiation of key construction contracts in different jurisdictions. Currently we are seeking to use the FIDIC yellow book form where possible, or a local equivalent (e.g. VOB in Germany).
- Coordination with external counsel, management of engagement and payment of legal fees, building suitable network of local contacts and law firms.
- Should they occur, the management of construction disputes on behalf of the Company.
- Assistance with the administration of all construction contracts.
- Arranging execution/stamping of final form agreements
- Participate in international projects and related business activities in connection with the ownership and operation of data centres, investor demands and refinancing/restructuring.

**THE TEAM**

Reporting into a Construction focused Legal Director you will join a growing team of legal professionals focused on providing high-quality, independent legal advice to Colt DCS.

The current DCS legal team comprises a General Counsel, two Legal Directors, and 7 lawyers based across London, Romania, Paris, Mumbai, and Tokyo, with more hires planned to join in 2023.

**THE SKILLS / EXPERTISE YOU BRING**
- German-qualified lawyer with at least 3-6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in the construction and development sector, with a good understanding of the project lifecycle.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating consultancy agreements, a range of works contracts, settlement agreements, deeds of variation and similar.
- Fluency in English is essential, with strong communication and drafting skills.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Should they occur, the management of construction disputes on behalf of the Company.
- Preparation and management of construction precedent data base.
- Provision of training on construction contracts to key business stakeholders.
- Providing legal research support where required.
