The in Forchheim (Germany) based research group "Correlative Microscopy and Materials Data" develops advanced and tailored microscopy and spectroscopy workflows for cross-scale (from macro to nano) and multimodal analysis of biological materials, high-performance ceramic materials and battery materials. For this purpose, we are looking for immediate reinforcement by a scientifically experienced employee in the context of correlative microscopy.
**What you will do**
You will characterize solid-state materials and devices as well as biological samples incubated with micro
- and nanoplastics using state-of-the-art spectroscopic instruments. The scope of duties also includes the evaluation of spectral data using modern methods and statistical relevance.
**What you bring to the table**
You have successfully completed a scientific university degree (preferably with a PhD) in the fields of materials science, physics, chemistry or comparable and have sound knowledge in the use of spectroscopic instruments and techniques such as Raman, photoluminescence, FTIR and X-ray fluorescence. Applications with motivation to pursue a PhD are also welcome.
Furthermore, you will have experience in spectral data analysis using commercially available or in-house developed software tools such as PCA and machine learning.
In addition, the following competencies and skills round out your profile:
- Familiarity with careful handling of complex measurement systems
- Practical experience with one or more of the following: battery, semiconductor, ceramic and plastic materials, and biological tissues and cells
- Structured, analytical and goal-oriented working strategy approach to correlating spectroscopy with spectroscopy data using colocalization.

The weekly working time is 39 hours.
The position is initially limited to 2 years and can also be filled on a part-time basis.
