**CTO / Managing Director with R&D Engineering experience to establish a new business unit of a start-up in Germany**

**Job description**

We are currently seeking a highly skilled individual with excellent technical and management skills who wants to be actively involved in a start-up environment and build up subsidiary in Germany. As a Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) with strong technical focus, you will establish a new business unit/vertical in Germany from scratch, build the team, the R&D and production capability.

Practically, you will:

- Establish operations at Deeplight GmbH in Karlsruhe with the option to expand or migrate to other location in the future
- Recruit and establish a team
- Define the technology and product roadmap of Deeplight GmbH jointly with our Swiss entity
- Manage upcoming customer projects and publicly funded R&D projects
- Work with external foundries in the domain of Electronics, Photonics and Packaging
- Develop custom electronic and optical subsystem
- Overview finances and operations
- Lead customer projects and further grant proposals
- Engage in tradeshows

**Your profile**
- MSc or PhD in electrical engineering, physics, optics & photonics or a similar field
- Strong leadership
- Industrial experience is an asset
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous: III-V semiconductor lasers and optoelectronics, silicon photonics design, integrated electronics, RF engineering, optical/electrical packaging, system design, or MEMS
- Working experience on similar projects bringing novel technologies from the lab to the market is a plus
- Experience in business reports, financing, and startup scene or product development is an asset
- Experience with public grant management is a plus
- Willingness regularly travel to Deeplight's headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland
