The Campus Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use (CBL) brings together the existing expertise at the University of Göttingen in the field of biodiversity and sustainable land use research. Researchers and lecturers in the life and social sciences investigate the consequences of climate change, land use changes, and biodiversity loss. Sponsoring faculties are the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, the Faculty of Biology and Psychology and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
The scientific coordinator will support the strategic development of research in the field of biodiversity and sustainable land use with a special focus on forest ecosystems by initiating and supporting interdisciplinary collaborative research endeavors. By doing this, the person will closely collaborate with the other coordinators from the Campus Centre.
In the first six years, the coordinator will be in charge of the organization and coordination of the future lab “FoResLab - Future Lab towards Forests Resilient to Climate Change” funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of the State of Lower Saxony in the funding scheme zukunft.niedersachsen. It will investigate in a highly inter
- and transdisciplinary way how to make forests more resilient to climate changes in current and future conditions and develop new formats of stakeholder and society involvement. 13 subprojects at the University of Göttingen and partners from HAWK, JKI, Leibniz University Hannover, Luxembourg Institute for Science and Technology, NW-FVA and TU Braunschweig will collaborate in this endeavor in three platforms.
After the funding period of the project, the coordinator will take over the position of the scientific coordinator at CBL and be responsible for the coordination of collaborative projects initiated by members of the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology.
**In the first six years, the primary task will be the coordination of the activities in FoResLab**:
- Coordination and organization of all FoResLab activities including qualification and diversity measures,
- initiating, supporting, and overseeing science communication activities,
- preparation of guidelines, infrastructure, and processes for data management (storing, sharing and publication),
- communication with the Lower Saxony Centre for Climate Research (ZKfN) and other Future Labs,
- set up and maintenance of communication channels between all members of the project as well as all relevant partners,
- preparation and documentation of all relevant project meetings,
- preparing and leading the report writing process.
**After six years, the main tasks of the coordinator will include**:
- Supporting the strategic development of research in the field of biodiversity and sustainable land use in close collaboration with the other coordinators in the Campus Centre of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use,
- initiating and supporting collaborative research projects in the context of forest ecology and management and forest related products - from proposal development until completion and reporting,
- organization of conferences, coordination of project related PR, science communication and outreach activities.
