**We are looking for a Patent Attorney to support our innovation teams and to protect our inventions.**

As Marel patent attorney your main responsibility will be to manage part of our patent portfolio and to provide IP service to one or more innovation teams. Together with internal collaborators and external strategic partners, you will work on securing global protection for our key innovations. Also, as member of our IP team, you will have the opportunity to further develop and implement our global IP strategy.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Invention harvesting: Identify and discuss inventive ideas with inventors and assess their patentability.
- Defend the portfolio: Participate in opposition and appeal proceedings at the EPO.
- Portfolio management: Oversee your patent portfolio and collaborate with business stakeholders to identify gaps in portfolio and/or redundant rights.
- Competition awareness: Collaborate with a patent specialist to oversee the competitor patent landscape.
- Strategic IP due diligence: Analyse third-party patent portfolios to circumvent future patent disputes.
- Developing the IP organization: Contribute to build up a strong and cost-effective global IP organisation.

**Qualifications**:

- Profound understanding of engineering (physics and/or software related) and preferably understanding of the food industry.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch, Danish, Icelandic and/or German is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate on all levels and across profession as well as express complex technical ideas concisely.
- Attention to detail and analytically skilled, with instant progress and improvement in mind.
- Self-motivated and self-driven, wanting to develop yourself and your surroundings.
- You are a team player who enjoys being a part of an international team, thereby contributing to the overall worldwide success of the company.

As a part of our Global IP team, there will be some travelling involved.
