**Role Summary**:
We are seeking an **Assistant Underwriter Financial Lines Insurance** to join our Financial Lines Team in Cologne,

Germany.

The Assistant Underwriter Financial Lines Insurance, will be contributing to the growth and development of a

book of profitable and diversified Financial Lines insurance business of Commercial Clients and Financial

Institutions.

**Duties & Responsibilities: **

Contribution to growth and profitability (bottom line) of Sompo International’s portfolio by sourcing

submissions, underwriting, pricing, marketing and managing Financial Lines Insurance business and

territories with the goals of maximizing the expected profitability and risk-adjusted return on capital

Develop relationships with brokers. Contribute to build a well-diversified and balanced book of

business ranging from SME to Major accounts

Analyse underwriting information and ensure appropriate terms and conditions are secured

Perform contract negotiation and attend underwriting meetings

Proactively promote the Sompo brand and increase its recognition

Cross sell other Sompo International Specialty Lines products

Assist the team in developing and launching local language product versions for Germany and assigned

European markets

**Desired Professional Experience: **

A recognised qualification in law, economics and/or finance

2-3 years as a Financial Lines underwriting assistant, assistant underwriter/ junior underwriter, or

Insurance broker in Financial Lines encompassing the following products is a plus:

- Management Liability (Commercial D&O, Commercial Crime, EPL, PTL/Fiduciary, POSI),
- Financial Institutions (FI D&O, FIPI, BBB),
- Professional Indemnity (Regulated and not regulated professions),

Proficiency in IT

Experience with a start-up company or the development of new business and/or new products within

an established company is a plus

Flexibility, willingness to offer top service quality to brokers and clients

German, fluent in English, any other European language is a plus
