Unique possibility to establish a new Battery Engineering Centre and Gigafactory in Europe; responsibility across the full value chain: R&D, BMS engineering, raw materials sourcing, cell production and recycling concepts.

Responsibilities and tasks
- Plan, build and establish the new battery Gigafactory:

- Concept and design (site selection, plant layout, Capex, OPEX cost estimation)
- Sourcing Capex & cell components: ensuring supply chain security (incl. energy), professional supplier integration and considering raw material prices
- Large scale hiring and headcount planning
- Construction (time schedule management, cost management, supplier management)
- Ensure the successful industrialization, quickly scaling up production capacity to serve a high volume of battery cells and packs to the European customers.
- Continuously drive cost optimization, quality assurance, and time to production
- Initiate material & product innovation and be strongly involved in future electric vehicle projects.
- Participate with know-how transfer and best practice sharing in the group-wide battery competence center.
- Build cross functional best-in-class teams and create an environment in which individuals and teams work with rather than against each other.

Background and capability demand
- University degree in engineering, preferably in Electrochemistry, Material Sciences, Mechanical-, Chemical
- or Electrical Engineering
- Expertise across the end-to-end value chain, including leading complex high-volume battery production teams
- Know-how in Battery Gigafactory development
- Solid knowledge of automotive EV projects (integration of the battery into the vehicle)
- Hands-on mentality and entrepreneurial spirit with a high motivation to build, develop and lead a large organization.
- Fluent English is a must. Additional languages, especially German, are a plus.

About the company

They have a deep understanding of technology and innovation for batteries and electric vehicles.- This role will take responsibility for all topics across the value chain: from battery raw materials sourcing, engineering, industrialization, and manufacturing to recycling concepts.- The jobholder will be part of the European Executive Leadership team.- The new Gigafactory will strengthen the company’s competence in developing and manufacturing highly innovative cells and battery packs. It also ensures the capability for large-scale production which will be ecologically and economically sustainable.
