The Digital Products EMEA unit within the Business Technology Department at Munich RE is responsible for delivering digitalization initiatives across the full life cycle, from ideation, prototyping and digital product design through to production-quality delivery of scalable products. Our objective is to make innovative initiatives successful. Based on business needs we implement highly reusable, multi-tenant insurance and risk assessment platforms in the cloud.
There is a vacancy in the team for a qualified Solution Architect to start as soon as possible.
This position will be part of a cross-functional digital product team. Main responsibilities include development and coordination of cloud-based IT architectures and participation in digital initiatives.
**Your Job**:
- Definition of a foundation of common micro services, including standards and patterns for their integration, e.g., workflow and messaging solutions.
- Identification, evaluation as well as setup and configuration of cloud components
- Development of re-usable building blocks for (re-)insurance IT solutions
- Take ownership of the IT solution architecture and communicate its intent, purpose and added value to all affected stakeholders, such as project architects and developers, as well as project managers and business stakeholders.
- Technical advising, consulting and coaching of the development team in a hybrid work environment.
- Supervise progress of the development team and perform code and detailed design reviews to ensure a high code quality as well as consistency with the defined solution architecture.
- Participation & ongoing collaboration in the Munich Re global technical architects’ community.
**Your Profile**:
- Computer or natural science graduate or equivalent practitioner with excellent IT skills
- Several years of experience in the development and architectural design of large IT solutions (as IT architect or technical lead)
- Very good knowledge of cloud native architectures - especially based on PaaS services (profound Microsoft Azure knowledge preferred)
- Extensive practical experience (3 years +) with modern cloud-based architectures, such as micro service, event-driven or serverless architectures
- Advanced hands-on experience (5 years +) in software development with the Microsoft Technology Stack (including.NET Core, C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server) and front-end technologies, such as Angular or React, Node.js, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Previous experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, Git, container technologies (e.g., Docker or Kubernetes) and Azure DevOps
- Previous experience with Azure cloud services, such as Azure APIM, Azure Front Door, Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Azure AD and Azure AD B2C, beneficial
- Sound knowledge of agile software development and methodology
- Pronounced analytical and conceptual capabilities coupled with the ability to communicate and present complex situations in a clear and precise way
- Preferred: Several years of experience in the (re-)insurance industry including underwriting knowledge as well as a good understanding of cyber risk and compliance requirements
- Optional: good knowledge of MR IT standards and patterns
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
