THE ROLE

The Head of Business Development is leading all activities of the Zattoo DTC Business Development Team in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Core objectives of Zattoo’s DTC Business Development activities are to constantly increase the reach and revenue of Zattoo’s TV streaming platform in general and in particular to
- Further grow the Zattoo subscriber base
- Strengthen Zattoo’s positioning as a real alternative to more traditional TV services (e.g. Satellite and Cable TV)
- Generate direct revenues out of partnerships

For this the Business Development Team
- Initiates partnerships with potential partners along the TV distribution value chain - in particular with manufacturers of consumer electronics, platform operators, network operators and publishers
- Develops new and expands existing distribution and sales channels for Zattoo’s subscription based services
- Innovates and develops new business ideas

The Head of Business Development reports to the General Manager DTC of Zattoo. Together they set guidelines and define quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for a coordinated, goal-oriented approach to achieve annual goals of the overall Business Development activities. The Head of Business Development accounts for all their team’s activities to the General Manager DTC, providing regular feedback on development and impact of partnerships and asking for support where needed.

As a member of a small team and leading two experienced Business Development Managers, the Head of Business Development benefits from a high degree of independence, allowing them to bring in and directly implement their own ideas.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Head of Business Development acts as a role model for their team especially in the areas of
- scanning the market for developments that could be used for new partnership models
- generating and assessing ideas for new partnerships and catalysing them into action
- building up new relationships and developing them to impactful strategic partnerships (being “out there” for partner acquisition)
- increasing revenue and profit of Business Development partnerships
- accurate and balanced assessment of business opportunities based on facts and figures
- leveraging Zattoo’s limited resources in terms of time and money
- knowledge of “technical side” of partnerships
- collaboration with other Zattoo departments, especially TVP for optimal alignment for a holistic B2B(2C) product offering
- acting as an expert for their area also on industry events such as trade fairs, conferences

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Business sense and entrepreneurial spirit: vast experience in developing innovative ideas into concrete business concepts, effectively communicating them to key stakeholders and implementing them.
- Data driven approach towards business models
- Open minded and outgoing, with ability to develop strong relationships with potential business partners even outside core business
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English, ability to work across all levels and functions
- Self-management and sense of urgency: Demonstrates independent, structured and well organised working style with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities
- Leadership: Ability to build, manage and grow a team of high performance Business Development Managers
- Self-motivation: Ability and urge to independently come up with ideas, make action plans and implement them
- Strong Interest in Zattoo and OTT TV landscape: Willingness to get in depth knowledge of Zattoo’s country specific services and overall OTT industry landscape
- TV industry knowledge: General knowledge of and experience in the TV industry would be helpful (e.g. general understanding of TV distribution rights, technical possibilities in TV distribution, broadcasters requirements to platform operators)
- Understanding of subscription based business models: General knowledge of and professional experience with subscription based, digital business models and their driving KPIs
- Professional network: Build up and maintain a professional network to decision makers at potential partner companies in Germany, Switzerland and Austria
