**Duties**:

- Work primarily involves activities related to network architecture, hardware, and software to include routers, switches, servers, power/network cabling, network protocols, design documentation/diagrams, etc.
- Researches and advises leadership on implementation of emerging technologies and strategies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), Zero Trust, and various Cloud Computing service models.
- The incumbent serves as a technical authority and network engineering expert in the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and high level troubleshooting of network architecture in the European Army Enterprise Data Center (AEDC)s.
- Plans, engineers, and coordinates the implementation of data center modernization and standardization initiatives with consideration of all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
- Position requires vast knowledge in network architecture, network security architecture, virtual server environments, cybersecurity, systems integration, unified communications (UC), configuration management, and network protocols.
- Responsible for assuring that reliability, maintainability, human factors, safety, and configuration management criteria are fulfilled as it relates to design, development, testing, and the integration of computer and/or communication systems.
- Requires knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering as it relates to engineering standards and practices, engineering test procedures, and engineering process specifications.
- Also required is knowledge of technical contractual documents, engineering changes, and work statements to assure compatibility with facilities and equipment supporting computer or communications systems/subsystems.
- The incumbent provides technical, analytical, planning, implementation, and troubleshooting support to subordinate Theater Commands and mission partners within the Army.
- Requires routine and reoccurring access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) materials, facilities and systems.

- This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

**Qualifications**:

- Must meet training and certification requirements as a member of the IA Workforce at IAM level III minimum but with a preference for IASAE level III, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M within six months of appointment. The incumbent performs under the direct supervision of an appropriately-certified individual until qualifications are obtained unless certification qualification requirements have been waived due to severe operational or personnel constraints. Incumbents not meeting training and certification IA DoD 8570.01- M may be reassigned to other duties or released, consistent with applicable law.
