Heavy Equipment Operator - RTCH (GmbH)

Purpose: Performs: This position performs RTCH operations for the contract.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Performs Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on equipment and generates a DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet) and reports any faults.
- RTCH operator loads and transports large materials and containers from one location to another.
- Assists in loading and unloading of material transported.
- Loads/unloads containers and equipment from rail cars under the guidance of Deutsche Bahn Load Masters.
- Responsible for following the proper safety procedures in order to minimize any danger to themselves or other workers and to ensure no damage to equipment being operated or moved.
- Must understand and use the correct hand signals to guide vehicles and equipment around the worksite.
- Drives equipment onto train carriages under the guidance of Deutsche Bahn Load Masters.
- May deploy with the Equipment Configuration Hand-off Area (ECHA) to other work sites.
- Reports and receives direction via radio or cellular phone.
- Inspects lifting equipment to ensure it is capable of completing the task.
- May be utilized as a crossing guard for inbound/outbound trains after training.
- May be required to work; shifts, weekends, mandatory overtime (with proper notice given) as required in order to meet daily/weekly workload requirements.
- Maintains a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
- Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Amentum Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and mínimal lost-time injuries.
- Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions. Performs other duties are assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience: 3-5 years of related work experience driving carious types of Military vehicles or commercial equivalent.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

- Must be able to drive and operate the equipment on site, having undertaken the appropriate familiarization training.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or appropriate Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or host national/ European Union equivalent.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands:

- Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
