Mileway launched in September 2019, which means you’ll join in our fifth year of business. Mileway, a Blackstone company, is the largest owner of last mile logistics real estate assets in Europe. We have a pan-European footprint, with approximately 1,900 assets across eleven countries. Core markets are the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France which represent over 80% of the portfolio, with a growing presence in the Nordics and Southern Europe. The business is headquartered in London, and has a dedicated team of over 500 staff, with a local presence in each market. Mileway is an unregulated business.
You’ll be based at our office in [Düsseldorf or Frankfurt] and will sit with the multidisciplinary Mileway Germany team headed by our Country Director Germany. The position is full-time and you will be part of the broader Legal team which consists of the Legal team based in Amsterdam and the Legal and Compliance team based in Luxembourg. As an integral part of the Mileway Germany team, you will report to the Country Director Germany.
We’ll equip you with a state-of-the-art technology package that helps you keep in touch, wherever you are. That doesn’t mean we need you 24/7. We expect you’ll work hard and also that you’ll need some downtime. Respect for your personal life is key to keeping our team happy and our batteries charged.
What you’ll do
- Assist the Mileway Germany team and the broader Mileway teams with legal queries as part of the day-to-day business (‘go to’ person for legal asset management queries in Germany).
- Work on lease agreements, amendment agreements, settlement agreements and further ancillary leasing documents (including templates).
- Participate in legal negotiations with tenants on lease documentation and liaising with external law firms on leasing matters.
- Advise the Mileway Germany team and liaise with external law firms on litigation matters.
- Assist the Mileway Germany team on certain legal aspects of disposals and acquisitions (such as the review of NDAs, LOIs, assistance with the preparation of the VDR and Q&A).
- Manage Mileway’s exposure with local public authorities.
- Maintain and update Mileway’s legal reporting (such as the litigation tracker and other trackers requiring legal input).
What you’ll bring
- A university law degree.
- At least five years of experience working in-house or at a German law firm on real estate matters.
- You’re a proactive, hands-on person. You’re committed to continuous learning and improving your knowledge and skillset.
- Ability to work independently as well as demonstrate team spirit.
- Able to take direction and ask questions.
- Strong organizational skills and eye for detail.
- Fluent German and English.
