We at Airbus Central Research & Technology work on cutting edge technologies for future airborne and spaceborne systems, providing novel functionalities whilst reducing the environmental footprint of Airbus products and services. You will join the team of researchers working on advanced communication and sensor systems.

**Your tasks and responsibilities**:

- Propose novel airborne free-space optical communication pointing, acquisition and tracking concepts
- Develop strategies to increase reliability and vibration stability of the optical terminal while taking care of the size of the terminal
- Validate the proposed approaches with a proof of concept through theoretical modeling, simulations, lab testing and final breadboard demonstration

**Desired skills and qualifications**:

- You are educated to a MSc in Physics, Optics/Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- You have profound knowledge in Optics/Photonics
- Previous experience in Lab optomechanical setups
- Good command with common sources, detectors and electronics for Lab setups.
- Advantageous to have knowledge in coding skills, such as C++, Python, Matlab, LabVIEW
- Experience with FPGA programming is a plus
- You have good communication skills in German and English
