The Physical Chemistry of Nanomaterials research group at the Kassel University are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to their existing research projects and help develop interesting future projects. In this postdoc you will join the group working in Kassel, undertaking experiments and theorical modelling to produce a model to predict the behaviour of 2D materials during centrifugation experiments. This requires independent experiment planning and implementation to prepare and characterise samples and compare this data with model systems, as well as clear communication with international collaborators on the project.
**Tasks**:
- Independent coordination and conduction of research projects in the area of solution-processed low-dimensional nanostructures
- Service in research and teaching in the area of physical chemistry
- Preparation and realization of lectures, seminars, tutorials and lab courses
- Take a lead role in lab-management and equipment procurement
- Fundamental research into the physical chemistry of nanomaterials (in particular contribute to developing and testing a new model for size separation of 2D nanomaterials in liquid dispersion), publishing papers and giving external presentations to disseminate your work
- Collaborate with a diverse research group both locally and internationally working on different topics across physical chemistry and nanomaterials.
**Requirements**:
- Scientific university degree (for example Master) and PhD within the field of nanoscience
- Profound knowledge in physical chemistry in general and 2D materials in particular
- Experience with 2D liquid dispersion production and handling, specifically: exfoliation, size selection, analysis, and film preparation
- Theoretical and practical familiarity of centrifugation experiments
- Ability to use spectroscopic and microscopy techniques for analysis of 2D materials, ideally UV-vis, photoluminescence, AFM and SEM
- Very good proficiency in English and interest in interdisciplinary problems
- Teaching experience, ideally with formal pedagogic training

- Computer programming for data analysis and visualisation
- Ability to think and work independently at the boundary of disciplines and in a team
- Ability to clearly communicate scientific concepts to a range of audiences
