**Job description**:
In mid-2023, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH will launch a new initiative called "CATALI.5°T Initiative: Concerted Action To Accelerate Local I.5° Technologies" to promote the uptake and scaling of innovative climate technologies (‘climate tech’) in young companies and startups in the Global South, with an initial focus on West Africa and Latin America. The initiative is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the international Green Climate Fund (GCF) for a total of EUR 36.5 million. Its objective is to trigger venture capi-tal investments in start-ups and young businesses with decarbonization products and solutions which have the potential of rapid business growth and a real transformational climate impact in the energy, food & agriculture, manufacturing, buildings and other sectors. The initiative will encompass activities such as acceleration and pre-acceleration programs aimed at early-stage ventures, ideation workshops (known as 'climathons') for founders interested in climate tech, and training sessions on climate, Environmental Social Governance (ESG), and diversity for start-up incubators, accelerators, and venture capital firms.

**Your tasks**:
We are pleased to announce an exciting internship opportunity with the CATALI.5°T (pronounced “cata-lyst”) Initiative. As a climate tech intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of professionals in a fast-paced and challenging environment. You will contribute to the success of the initiative through a variety of tasks, which may include research, data analysis, communications, and administrative support.As part
of your internship, you will have the following tasks, among others:

- Conduct research on climate technologies, venture capital firms, and start-up accelera-tors/incubators in the Global South
- Help to set-up and operate a monitoring framework for the CATALI.5°T Initiative’s Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and Gender Action plan (GAP)
- Assist with impact measurement and reporting of the CATALI.5°T Initiative
- Support communication and outreach activities
- Assist with supervising the development and delivery of a training programme for start-up incubators/accelerators and venture capital firms on ESG
- Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, preparing events, drafting com-munications, and maintaining records and databases

**Your profile**:

- You study at least from the 3rd semester in business, finance, environmental studies, engineering, or in a related field
- Cumulative 6 months of work experience (e.g. through previous internships) in start-ups, venture capital or climate tech
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.064;
