**Description**:
Our diverse team is accountable for the design, development, deployment, and operations of a device and network analytics solution including a Big Data platform, a rich web frontend, and mobile smartphone-based client software. The solution is a key element of Vodafone’s customer care and network performance and optimization strategy and operated in about 20 markets across the Vodafone international footprint.
Hundreds of analysts and engineers use the collected data to optimize Vodafone’s network and business processes based on network performance metrics crowd sourced from tens of millions of devices. The team supports the entire solution lifecycle and is in contact with stakeholders in Vodafone Group and local Vodafone markets and Vodafone partner markets.
The team is co-located with the Vodafone Tech Innovation Center Dresden, Vodafone’s new global center for innovation and co-creation with other top tech world-wide companies, universities, and research institutes. The scope of this new hub is to improve peoples' lives by innovating communications and empower businesses for a digital and sustainable future. We use newest technologies such as 5G, 6G, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Security by Design in order to build new products and propositions for health, industry, transport, automotive, agriculture and many more. **Job Responsibility**:
**As the architect of our data analytics backend, you will make an impact by**
- Taking full technical ownership for the Device Analytics Solution backend platform by defining, aligning, and maintaining the technology strategy
- Defining high-level architecture, data models, and detailed solution designs in close cooperation with Technical and Commercial Product Owners, Big Data Architects, and Development Leads to implement the data strategy into the platform capabilities, products, and services
- Delivery of products - Leading the design and delivery of respective portfolio as aligned with Group Functions and local markets
- Product and service development - Building new, complex features and enhancing capabilities for enabling new data analytics solutions and workflows
- Governing adherence to secure-by-design and privacy-by-design principles in all aspects of the architecture throughout the DevOps life cycle in accordance with technical and legal constraints laid out by Data Architecture and Security guidelines and Data Protection and Privacy policies
- Acting as the responsible technical SPOC of Vodafone’s Device Analytics Solutions for all internal and external stakeholders
- Assessing business requirements and timelines and aligning them with the technology strategy and roadmap to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions
- Providing technical guidance to the backend development team, owning governance over feature definition, delivery, and functional validation
- Identifying emerging technologies and best practices to define future architecture strategies and evolution roadmaps

**With these skills you will make a perfect match for this role**:

- Proven experience in designing large distributed, secure, robust, and scalable architecture solutions
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in cloud-based big data technologies, such as Google Cloud Platform (including BigQuery, PubSub), or Hadoop (including Impala, Kafka)
- Deep knowledge of security standards and best practices, and authentication technologies/protocols
- Deep knowledge of architecture best practices and design patterns (REST/SOAP/Spring)
- Good understanding of database technologies (including PostgreSQL) and SQL query frameworks (e.g. jOOQ)
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in software deployment and infrastructure orchestration technologies incl. Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to express complex concepts in digestible terms
- Proven expertise of conducting workshops, presenting technical solutions, preparing how-to guides and technical documentation
- Technical degree level (M.Sc. or higher) and proven experience in a related area, in particular Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, or Natural Sciences
