**Job description**:
The Sectoral Programme “Sustainable Consumption” at GIZ contributes to strengthening the German contribution to the establishment of sustainable production and consumption patterns in the global têxtile and garment industry. The programme provides advisory services to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the relevant units of GIZ and other organizations of German development cooperation on strategic, con-ceptual and implementation issues. It also hosts the secretariats of the following initiatives on behalf of BMZ:
1) Green Button: government-run certification label for sustainable têxtiles - the first label that systematically evaluates whether companies take responsibility for respecting human rights and environmental standards in their supply chains
2) Partnership for Sustainable Textiles: the multi-stakeholder initiative combines the forces of various actors from politics, business and civil society to improve social, economic and ecolog-ical conditions along the entire supply chain of the têxtile and garment sector
3) Siegelklarheit: the portal supports consumers in integrating sustainable purchasing deci-sions into their everyday lives through a transparent, independent and comprehensive rating system for labels.

**Your tasks**:
During your internship you will support the expert pool of the Sectoral Programme “Sustainable Consumption”. The colleagues in the expert pool work on different topics related to sustainability in garment sup-ply chains, including circularity, climate action, living wages, purchasing practices, gender equality, supply chain transparency and due diligence implementation. The expert pool pro-vides advisory services to BMZ on these topics and is responsible for activities related to the topics within the initiatives hosted by the project (see description above). The core task of the expert pool is to ensure coherence between the activities of the different instruments related to the before-mentioned topics.
As a Hertie School Young Professional, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

- Support the preparation of status reports, evaluations, papers and knowledge products related to the topics covered by the expert pool
- Support the conception, organization and implementation of events, workshops and meetings
- Support the conception and implementation of support measures for brands and retail-ers in the garment sector (e.g. guidance documents, webinars, peer learning formats)
- Support the conception of joint projects related to the topics covered by the expert pool in cooperation with members of the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles
- Support the further development of Green Button requirements related to the topics covered by the expert pool

**Your profile**:

- You are studying in the third semester or higher international development/ relations, economics, political science or sustainability management (or similar studies), ideally with a focus on issues related to global supply chains
- Practical experience in international cooperation, e.g. in international organizations, minis-tries or the private sector
- Knowledge of topics, political processes, initiatives and actors in the field of sustainable consumption and production in global supply chains, preferably with a focus on the têxtile and garment sector
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent ability to work in a structured manner and deliver tasks under time pressure
- Good conceptual and analytical skills
- Confident demeanor and ability to work in a team
- Working fluency in English; very good knowledge of German desirable.
