**Job Description**:
We are 5 ambitious scientists in the fermentation team with passion and determination for extending the biotechnology capabilities of CarboCode. Our team is the engine of the research center in Konstanz with more than 10 lab scale fermenters running simultaneously. Join our team and keep the fermentation engine moving at top speed

As Senior Research Scientist, you will become part of the Fermentation team and join 5 dedicated colleagues. The team's main tasks are to develop microbial fermentation processes, produce material and intermediates for non-clinical trials and secure transfer to larger-scale development. The work is exclusively carried out in 2L bioreactors as continuous or fed batch cultivations.

In this role, you will work together with several other teams to develop, plan and execute fermentation experimental designs at lab scale and effectively communicate results to the management and colleagues.

Key duties:

- Development of scalable procedures/technologies
- Experimental design and execution
- Documentation of laboratory experiments
- Run and oversee reaction in the fermentation laboratories
- Drive the fermentation technology to improve the overall quality and productivity of the fermentation process
- Ensure fermentation capacities are in use in a most effective way
- Work with our IP team to develop patents to protect our technologies
- Develop and optimize upstream & downstream technologies together with the team

**Qualifications**:

- Preferably having a PhD degree in relevant field, such as microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry or similar,
- Professional experience as Fermentation scientist in wet lab environment is preferable
- Good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding and demonstrated experience in the field of fermentation, molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology and synthetic biology
- Experience in the development of a bioprocess start-to-end of lab scales
- Theoretical and practical skills within yeast/_E. coli_ physiology and fermentation
- Preferably Experience in Upstream (High Cell Density Fermentation)
- Preferably Experience in Downstream (Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration, etc.)
- Independent, structured, and proactive way of working
- Committed, flexible, and reliable
- Good in written and spoken English
- Ability to work in an international team
