**In the next decade, pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is expected to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths, largely due to its late-stage diagnosis and aggressive nature, a point at which local and distant metastasis further decrease survival. To study metastasis, multiple rodent models have been developed. However, using such models is often time consuming and expensive. In Dr. Reichert’s lab, we have employed an innovative model system to investigate pancreatic cancer metastasis using the chick chorioallantioic membrane (CAM). Briefly, in this model, 2D or 3D cells are implanted onto the CAM of a developing chicken embryo. With 7 days post implantation metastasis is observed in the liver, heart and brain. With the aim of personalized medicine, we aim to establish our patient-derived organoid engrafted CAM model to test antimetastatic drug studies. In addition, we aim to functionally study genetically manipulated human pancreatic organoids using CRISPR/Cas9 technology using the CAM model. We are looking for a highly motivated student with a background in cellular/molecular biology or related fields to support our efforts in advancing this project. Experience with CAM models and/or basic cell culture techniques is a plus. Requirements: knowledge of cell culture techniques, communication skills in English. Desired (not necessary): knowledge of CAM model, cancer biology background, microscopy experience and molecular biology techniques (PCR, western blotting). We offer an excellent infrastructure at Klinikum r. der Isar along with mentorship and guidance by experienced researchers in a pleasant and multicultural working environment.**
