Introduction
We are seeking an internship student (M/F/x) to join our Metals and Chemical Processing (MCP) Research and Development team for 4-6 months (ideally 6 months). You will be responsible for supporting the development of digital solutions, which involves concept development, implementation, and testing of algorithms for our digital products. Your role plays a crucial part in the development of process know-how and simulation based digital solutions, which will contribute to the performance of our process plants and process equipment. In this position, you will report to Steffen Haus, Director MCP technologies.
This position is mainly located in Oberursel.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of digital solution specialists in the R&D department dedicated to the concept development and implementation of digital solution for our process technologies. We are currently working on algorithms to enhance the monitoring of gas cleaning and sulfuric acid process technology.
We work closely together with internal stakeholders, such as colleagues in the R&D team, as well as gas cleaning and sulfuric acid process experts. Our team culture is all about team spirit and collaboration to reach our common goal of improving our process technologies with digital solutions. The members in our team are located in Sweden and Germany.
What you’ll do
Implement different algorithms for the prediction of equipment health status
Implement mathematical functions and using python libraries to extrapolate equipment degradation
Test and compare the algorithms
Use python as well as our own programming environment for digital solutions
Interpret the results and propose solutions to the R&D digitalization team
Discuss ideas, concepts, and results with the R&D team
Who you are
A student close to the Master Thesis in mechanical engineering, process engineering, mathematics, or similar
You have experience in programming (Matlab, Python, or similar)
You have a good understanding of data in general and time series data in particular, and you are able to interpret data, and create algorithms using process data
You are able to convert a concept into an algorithm, and you are able to interpret the results of e.g., different algorithm configuration parameters
