The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.
Together with university partners at seven renowned partner sites, we have established the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK).
For the DKTK partner site Berlin we are seeking a PhD student to join the Molecular Epidemiology Unit at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
**Job description**:
- Cell culture: thawing, culturing, splitting, and freezing of cells; functional in vitro analyses
- Molecular biology / protein chemistry: PCR, RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, protein isolation, Western blot, gene-knockdown
- NGS including scRNA sequencing and ChIP sequencing
- Planning and execution of (cell culture) experiments
- Statistical evaluation of results
- Bioinformatics analyses (NGS data)
- Documentation and evaluation of research results as well as preparation of publications, lectures, posters
- Preparation of the dissertation within the PhD project
**Requirements**:
- University degree (Master / Master of Science) in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or comparable of at least 8 semesters
- Knowledge in cell culture techniques of human cell lines, primary cells (organoid cultures would be desirable)
- Experience in bioinformatics analyses (knowledge of R or similar)
- Knowledge of basic immunological and molecular biology techniques
