In order to support the Application Development Radar Remote Sensing department, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

**Internship radar remote sensing and geoinformation (d/f/m)**:
A subsequent thesis in alignment with the department is possible.

The department GEO is offering Geo-Information Solutions based on multi-sensor data with focus on the Radar Satellites TerraSAR-X and Sentinel-1. The alignment of vision, concepts and specific requirements together with customers, as well as internal departments like Engineering, is key.

**Your tasks and responsibilities**:

- Preprocessing of SAR and/or optical satellite data (e.g. co-registration, layer stacking, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, ortho-rectification)
- Preparation of training data for Machine Learning (e.g. labelling, tiling)
- Workflow implementation in GIS and / or Remote Sensing Software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, Erdas Imagine, etc.)
- Verification and documentation of results

**Desired skills and qualifications**:

- Enrolled full time student (d/f/m) geoinformation or a similar field of study
- Experience in GIS, digital image processing of remote sensing data and/or digital elevation models is required
- Software experience with GIS (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and image processing software (e.g. ERDAS Imagine, ENVI) is required
- Experience in Python programming is required
- Knowledge in Computer Vision and Machine learning / Deep learning methods is desired
- Basic knowledge in SAR remote sensing would be a benefit
- Languages: English and / or German (second is a plus)
- You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
