**Duties**:

- Receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
- Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
- Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
- Attend the dispensing window for pick up; provide instruction to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to the registered pharmacist.
- Perform all in clinical, inpatient, and supply/support functions with mínimal supervision by the register pharmacist.

- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

**_filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories._** This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).**OR**

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

- **Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-06**: Successful completion of at least one half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education in Pharmacology or a related field of study, from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).**OR**

**Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-06**: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.This position is scheduled to transfer to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at a date to be determined in accordance with the provisions of Section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, Public Law 114-328. The Act directed the DHA to take responsibility for the administration (i.e., authority, direction, and control) of military treatment facilities beginning 1 Oct 18. Employees will become DoD employees upon transfer to the DHA.**Education**:
