Als Teil eines neuen Forschungsnetzwerks, das an der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen eingerichtet wurde
- Graduiertenkolleg (GRK) 2906 Curiosity _- schreiben wir hier eine Promotionsstelle für einen Zeitraum von zunächst drei Jahren aus, mit einer sehr guten Möglichkeit der Verlängerung um ein weiteres Jahr. Das Projekt wird voraussichtlich am 1. August 2024 beginnen.
In dreizehn Projekten werden die Wissenschaftler*innen des GRK 2906 die neuropsychologischen, biologischen und computergestützten Grundlagen der Neugierde untersuchen. Das Netzwerk besteht aus einem hochgradig interdisziplinären Konsortium von Psycholog*innen, Biolog*innen sowie System
- und Computer-Neurowissenschaftler*innen, die gemeinsam an der Beantwortung dreier umfassender Forschungsfragen arbeiten werden: (A) Wann sind wir neugierig? (B) Warum sind wir neugierig? und (C) Wie sind wir neugierig? Das hier ausgeschriebene Promotionsprojekt wird untersuchen, wie sich Neugierde auf die Prozesse der Informationsaufnahme auswirkt, die Menschen nutzen, um ihre internen Modelle der Welt zu bereichern und zu erweitern. Der*die Doktorand*in wird EEG/MEG-Daten und informationstheoretische Ansätze nutzen, um herauszufinden, wie Neugier beeinflusst, welche Informationen wir wahrnehmen und wie wir sie anschließend in unsere internen Modelle integrieren. Ein möglicher zusätzlicher Schwerpunkt des Projekts könnte darin bestehen, die interindividuellen Unterschiede in der Art der von Menschen angewandten Strategien zur Informationsaufnahme zu untersuchen.
**Ihr Profil**:
- Ein hervorragender Master-Abschluss (oder ein gleichwertiger Abschluss) in Physik, Psychologie, Neurowissenschaften oder einem verwandten Fachgebiet
- Erfahrung in der Durchführung experimenteller Studien mit menschlichen Teilnehmenden ist von Vorteil
- Fortgeschrittene statistische und analytische Fähigkeiten (Erfahrung mit R/Python/Julia/MATLAB oder einer ähnlichen Programmiersprache ist von Vorteil)
- Ausgezeichnete Beherrschung der englischen Sprache; deutsche Sprachkenntnisse sind wünschenswert
- Ausgezeichnete Fähigkeiten zum kritischen Denken und zur Kommunikation

Der Göttingen Campus hat seine übergreifenden Forschungsschwerpunkte in lebenden Netzwerken, Nachhaltigkeit und Dynamik des Wandels und umfasst vier Max-Planck-Institute, das Deutsche Primatenzentrum, das Campus Institut für Datenwissenschaften und das Campus Institut für Dynamik biologischer Netzwerke. Die dreizehn Promotionsprojekte sind auf diese Institute des Göttingen Campus verteilt.
