The Multiscale Neurodevelopment Team studies the maturation of cortical architecture, connectivity and functional dynamics across early life. Using multiscale frameworks in combination with computational modelling, we aim to better understand cognitive maturation and psychiatric illness. Our team is embedded in the Brain and Behaviour Research Unit (INM-7) of the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine. Research at INM-7 encompasses a wide range of computational approaches to interrogating inter-individual variability in brain organisation, in order to better neurological and psychiatric diseases. The institute is dedicated to developing machine learning approaches for diagnosis and prognosis assessment for individual patients.

**Your Job**:

- Multi-scale investigations of human brain development
- Optimizing models to predict cognitive maturation from brain development
- Working with a broad range of imaging modalities (e.g. structural, diffusion-weighted and functional MRI, intracranial EEG)
- Development of MRI analysis toolboxes
- Efficient production of high-quality scientific articles

**Your Profile**:

- PhD degree in neuroscience or a related field of study
- Extensive experience with programming, including projects that involve machine and/or deep learning.
- Passion for human neuroanatomy and cognitive neuroscience
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with demonstrated experience publishing high-quality journal articles

**Our Offer**:
We support you in your work with:

- A large research campus with green spaces, offering the best possible means for networking with colleagues and pursuing sports alongside work
- An interdisciplinary and international research environment in Jülich
- Excellent computing infrastructure
- Ample opportunities for networking and international collaborations
- High degree of flexibility, including remote work
- Targeted services for international employees, e.g. through our International Advisory Service
- Extensive occupational health management and a variety of sports activities (e.g. beach volleyball court, running groups, yoga classes, and much more)
- Ideal conditions for balancing work and private life, as well as a family-friendly corporate policy supported by our Equal Opportunities Bureau
- Flexible working hours in a full-time position (39 hours/week) with the option of slightly reduced working hours
- 30 days of annual leave and provision for days off between public holidays and weekends (e.g. between Christmas and New Year)
