**About us**:

- At the Chair of Quantum Optics, we have developed groundbreaking methods to control trapped ions using high-frequency radiation and use them as an elementary switching unit (a qubit) in a quantum computer. We research and develop this system and thus prepare the basis for novel types of scalable quantum computers.**Your tasks**:

- Your research activities will focus on novel approaches and methods for quantum computers with trapped ions. Your tasks include:- Responsible planning, simulation and construction of innovative experimental apparatuses-
- Preparing and carrying out experiments with trapped ions, data analysis, and publishing scientific results- Guidance of other scientists in the team
- Cooperation with national and international research partners and third-party funding agencies

**Your profile**:

- University degree in physics
- Doctorate in physics
- Sound knowledge of quantum mechanics
- Essential for successful participation in the above-mentioned project are a high level of interest in the task at hand, exceptional commitment and initiative, and a strong ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
- International publications and participation in academic exchange (conferences, reviews, research reports, etc.)
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired: experimental quantum optics with atoms, molecules or solid-state based systems, quantum information processing, laser spectroscopy and -cooling, microwave technology, laser technology, optics, vacuum technology, control electronics, and computer control of experiments.
- very good knowledge of English
