**Contract**:full-time (40h/week), initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration

**Your tasks and responsibilities**:
**Student Provision**
- Develop positive and effective relationships with students and their parents.
- Handle medical emergencies on campus.
- Attend to minor injuries and mild illnesses
- Administer student medications in accordance with school policy and professional judgement
- Provide special healthcare procedures and treatments to students, as prescribed.
- Supervise students in the health office
- Observe confidentiality by respecting the privacy of students in the health office, during telephone conversations and when handling their health records.
- Provide confidential health advice to individual students, upon request
- Counsel students who have been referred to the School Nurse and report back on progress
- Develop communicative, cooperative and collaborative relationships with parents, ensuring they are notified of any health issues (including any need for further care), and involved in decisions about support or services provided for their child
- Take responsibility for developing and monitoring Health Plans, Emergency Plans and Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs) for students with medical needs who require support/accommodations, in collaboration with the student, the student’s parents/guardians, outside professionals and other SSS Staff.
- Carry out tasks from SSS Action Plans for students requiring support from more than one service
- Actively monitor students who may require a change in support status (active, monitoring, exit).
- Work closely with the SSS department and AP for Students to fulfil all necessary tasks pertaining to examination access/inclusion arrangements.
- Provide or assist with classroom health education as requested, on topics related to health education (hygiene, balanced diet, sexual health, puberty, drugs education)

**Collaboration with Staff**
- Develop communicative, cooperative and collaborative relationships with members of staff.
- Communicate pertinent student health information in a timely and confidential manner to appropriate persons (principal/teachers and/or other necessary school staff), with parental permission.
- Provide health education, training and advice for school staff to support students with medical conditions
- Be available to support staff informally, in relation to particular students, whether they are, or are not, included on the medical register.
- Collaborate with members of the SSS department, to develop support strategies for individual students
- Keep the Management team, Principals and the SSS department informed of work being carried out in Medical Support.
- Collaborate with the SSS department., in the area of departmental development.
- Organise annual flu shots for staff and provide all necessary information

**Systems and Records**
- Maintain a file for each student on which contains relevant paperwork relating to the student (e.g. health record forms, medical reports)
- Update school health records and electronically record daily visits, completely, accurately and in a timely manner
- Have a list of at-risk students and a set of first aid supplies at hand for use during any emergency evacuation of the building
- Initiate, maintain and share with relevant staff the register of students with medical conditions
- Where appropriate, assist parents in accessing medical assessments/services from external professionals and agencies and liaise with the providers of those assessments/services
- Complete accident report forms, monitoring the number and type of accidents that occur and liaise with the school’s insurance company for incidents in school that require medical attention
- Develop and review Medical Support policy in line with the school’s and department’s aims and objectives and strategic plan
- Develop and implement documents required for effective record keeping.
- Collaborate to develop, and maintain, referral systems for SSS
- Contribute to the Annual Development Plan of the SSS Department so that its resources are used most effectively; oversee and carry out its implementation; and review and adjust the plan where necessary

**Meetings**
- Meet with parents of students receiving medical support, or those who have concerns about their children, as and when required
- Attend and contribute to Student Support Services meetings
- Attend and contribute to relevant School Section meetings, as appropriate
- Initiate and organise case management meetings
- Attend relevant meetings/conferences with other international schools in Germany

**Relationships with the wider school community**
