**Duties**:
Serves as the Regional Security Office’s (RSO) primary outreach and liaison to host government law enforcement and security entities, and as the principal and recognized authoritative security advisor to the RSO and COM, particularly as it relates to security programs which require extensive coordination with the host nation and/or security programs which may be particularly complex or demanding based on local environment. Supervises the Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) Unit. Oversees the range of investigations conducted at post to include supervising background, as well as directly conducting special & sensitive cases for the RSO, and other complex investigations on behalf of associated agencies at post. Facilitates the protection of post personnel and visiting U.S. government officials. Manages all aspects of host nation capacity building and coordinates host nation role in post’s emergency preparedness programs. Responsible for the long-term and strategic planning of security and law enforcement initiatives with host nation. Security program(s) require more coordination with the host nation than what is typical due to frequency or complexity.
**Qualifications and Evaluations**:
- Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
- At least seven years as a professional investigator or special agent with substantive experience conducting complex & high-profile investigations (for example, fraud or organized crime) that require a mastery of investigative techniques and comprehensive knowledge of local legal procedures and host nation government law enforcement and security agency structures and operations.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Expertise in the principles and techniques of conducting investigations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of documentary sources of information and with local and regional laws regarding marriage, divorce, adoption, and military service.
- Knowledge of the intricacies of the external and internal structures of host government law enforcement and security agencies to include essential contacts.
- Advanced knowledge of the host country’s customs, official communication protocols, and knowledge of host countries government entities.
- Education Requirements:
Mandatory:
- At least 2 (two) years college or university studies is required.

LANGUAGE: Mandatory:
- English: fluent in speaking/reading/writing is required.
- German: fluent in speaking/reading/writing is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain extensive contacts at all levels within the host country law enforcement and security agencies.
- Ability to conduct sensitive investigations to include handling evidence with utmost discretion.
- Ability to train and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to draft correspondence and written reports in both English and the host nation language.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and present data in a variety of formats to include maps, charts, and oral/written reports. Ability to maintain integrity, impartiality, emotional and mental stability, sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, discretion, incisive thinking, adaptability, thoroughness, and the capacity for effective public relations.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
