Principal Scientist iPSC Cell Therapy (f/m/d)

Immune-Compatible Diabetes Cell Therapy and EVs

Full-time and permanent

Your key responsibilities:

- Manage and coordinate Evotec RnD projects aimed to develop a cloaked iPSC-derived cell therapy product for diabetes, with the goal of partnering or spin-out formation
- Ensure that the quality of the work delivered is up to the company standards
- Supervise process optimization activities for the differentiation, expansion, cryopreservation and immune-testing of cloaked iPSC-derived islet-like clusters
- Coordinate project transition towards tech transfer and GMP manufacturing
- Actively contribute to and lead collaborative initiatives, including collaborations with other Evotec projects involving cloaked iPSC-derived cells
- Liaise with scientists across different Evotec sites and coordinate cross-site activities
- Maintain a cutting edge awareness of technical developments and scientific knowledge to improve project performance
- Supervise/coordinate (as line manager) Evotec’s exosome/extracellular vesicle (EV) RnD projects and EV specialist project managers

Your ideal qualifications:

- A PhD degree or equivalent in biology or another relevant field or an MD degree with several years of relevant academic and/or industry experience in iPSC-based cell therapy
- Deep scientific know-how of the diabetes space, with a focus on pluripotent stem cell-based cell therapy approaches
- Scientific expertise in immunology, with a focus on autoimmunity in T1D and/or allograft rejection
- Experience in team leadership and ambition to support and develop team members
- Highly motivated and dynamic personality, scientific excellence as well as the competency to significantly contribute to important research projects
- High degree of initiative and flexibility, with the ability to deliver results under challenging timelines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, collaborators and customers
- Fluency in English
