**Student Assistant (M/F/x) Smart Farming**
Fraunhofer EMFT conducts cutting-edge applied research on sensors and actuators for people and the environment. The about 150 employees in the three locations in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg possess impressive long-term experience and wide-ranging know-how in the fields of microelectronics and microsystem technology. The technology offering of the research institute ranges from semiconductor processes, MEMS technologies and 3D integration to foil electronics. These nano
- and microtechnologies are the basis for the other competence areas at Fraunhofer EMFT: sensor solutions, safe and secure electronics, and micropumps. The interdisciplinary interaction of these competencies enables the development of truly novel solutions to meet the current challenges facing our society.
As part of the “Smart Farming” project, you will work together with scientists at the Fraunhofer EMFT in Oberpfaffenhofen to develop printed sensors to measure various plant parameters. An essential part of the project is the design and implementation of well-constructed and suitable sensors. Another essential component is the interconnection between sensor and measurement device as well as the interpretation of the data obtained in order to adapt and validate the problem. The results of this project are used to asses the health status and optimal fertilization of plants.
**What you will do**
- Supporting research and development projects with a focus on printed sensors on plant leaves
- Investigation of different sensor designs for recording different plant parameters
- Development of a contact system and evaluation of the collected data
**What you bring to the table**
- Studying biology, chemistry, electrical engineering, physics or related specialization
- Knowledge in measurement and sensor technology
- Programming skills for example in python are advantageous
- Experience in CAD programs and 3D printing technology are advantageous
In addition, the following skills complete your profile
- Independent and self-reliant way of working
- Efficient scientific working techniques
- Very good knowledge of the languages German and English, both written and spoken
