Doctoral Researcher/PhD
The position is offered for a period of 3 years. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) coming with a salary and benefits commensurate to a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).
The LOEWE cluster RobuCop investigates the molecular mechanisms by which chloroplasts react to environmental changes and establishes new methods to implement a sustainable carbon cycle in chloroplasts using synthetic biology.
**Tasks**:

- scientific services in research
- development of an independent research project with a high degree of autonomy
- genetic, structural biology and cell biology studies
- bioinformatic analyses
- genetic engineering using synthetic biology methods
- international communication of research through publications and oral presentations

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to - 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
**Profile**:

- completed scientific university studies (diploma, master's degree or comparable) in the fields of biology, chemistry or biotechnology with a focus on molecular biology, molecular microbiology or biochemistry
- strong theoretical background and practical scientific experience in molecular genetics and synthetic biology
- theoretical and practical knowledge of structural biology and bioinformatics methods is an advantage
- good command of English
- a high degree of motivation, creativity, scientific curiosity and the ability to work in a team

Willingness to pursue own scientific qualification (e.g. a doctorate project in the research area of gentics or molecular biology) is expected.
