St. George’s School seeks a well-qualified teacher of Drama and English to work across our secondary school, to start in August 2023.

**The School**:
Having opened in September 2013, St. George’s School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of around 700 pupils and 100 teachers. The school continues to grow, and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils. The school’s ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School. Students in the Sixth Form prepare the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

**The Location**:
The school’s new campus is located in the area of Schwabing-Freimann, to the north of the city centre. The site enjoys good access to the U6 metro line, as well as the A9 motorway.

Germany’s third largest city, and the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Munich offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits.

Munich airport is located 30km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations.

**The Role**:
We are seeking to appoint a qualified Drama and English Teacher to work within our team of secondary teachers.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.

English is taught in differentiated groups across KS3 and KS4 with the majority of pupils taking IGCSEs in both English Language and English Literature. A small proportion of pupils prepare IGCSE in English as a Second Language. English is a popular option in the IB Diploma, where pupils can select between a range of different options. Examinations results are strong, with a continuous trend of improvement.

Familiarity with the British education system is a prerequisite. Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable.

All applicants should hold a valid teaching qualification. We consider a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE) as valid. English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient.
