**Org. Setting and Reporting**
- The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the UN agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN-Habitat’s Division of External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation (ERSKI) is responsible for strategic planning, programmatic direction and operationalization of UN-Habitat's focal point role for the New Urban Agenda in the UN system and for coordination of emergency programmes. The Knowledge and Innovation Branch is located within ERSKI, and its overall role is to provide leadership and strategic guidance informed by evidenced emerging challenges and relevant trends and developments within the mandate of UN-Habitat. The branch also promotes strategic coalitions with knowledge and research entities. The position is located in the United Nations Innovation Technology Accelerator for Cities, based in Hamburg (UNITAC-Hamburg) within the Knowledge and Innovation Branch. UNITAC- Hamburg works with a variety of innovation, prototyping and applied research methodologies to develop innovative solutions that accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to cities and urbanization. These innovative solutions will be tested and scaled through UN-Habitat's global network of country offices, local governments, and other partners, including the private sector and academia. UNITAC-Hamburg is jointly implemented with the HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (UN-OICT). Public information activities are to follow corporate protocol and plans cleared by the corporate communications office for consistent messaging. In additions, the incumbent maintains a close working relationship with key staff from partner agencies of the UNITAC project. The position is located at UN-Habitat office in Hamburg, Germany duty station. The incumbent will report to the UNITAC Manager as the First Reporting Officer (FRO) and the Head of Knowledge and Innovation Branch as the Second Reporting Officer (SRO). The incumbent will have the Chief of Communications of UN-Habitat as an additional reporting supervisor. Within delegated authority, the Public Information Officer may be responsible for the following duties:
