**Project coordinator position (M/F/d)**
- (Position number: 52-2024 Project Coordinator)
- in the field of agriculture and adaptation to climate change, starting as soon as possible.
- The position **is funded for** **3 years, with possibility for extension**. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13. This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 40 hours per week. Appointment is conditional on approval by the funding agency. The position can be filled on a part-time basis.
- We are looking for a person with interest in climate impacts, risk management and adaptation for agriculture in low
- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and with experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and transferring scientific results to a non-scientific audience to join our team.
- Working together with governments, research institutes, international and private organizations primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (with some projects in Asia and Latin America), we aim to transform research into user-oriented climate services and policy that enable end-users in partner countries to better adapt to climate change in the field of agriculture. Central to this position is the contribution to the implementation of our research projects through active engagement with local stakeholders in order to ensure that scientific results are transferable on the ground and will ultimately help stabilize agricultural production of smallholder farmers. In addition, a primary task will be to coordinate research projects in this field, in particular in the field of agriculture, adaptation to climate change, and attribution of climate change impacts, including nutrition-related health impacts. This position will work closely with a team of crop modelers, development economists and climate scientist as they develop evidence-based risk management solutions.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Coordinate and contribute to the implementation of research projects through close collaboration with other researchers at PIK, project partners elsewhere, as well as the involved stakeholders
- Liaise and maintain communication with project donors (e.g. GIZ, BMZ, UN, Wellcome Trust and other funders in the development sector), responding to information requests, preparing project progress reports and policy briefs
- Organize and conduct workshops with a broad range of stakeholders including members from governments, civil society, and academia in LMICs and at PIK
- Prepare policy guidance and communication material to promote the uptake of study results among a broad audience
- Manage projects including through the development of new project proposals and monitoring and evaluation

**Requirements**:

- You hold a Master’s degree in the field of Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Development Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, Agricultural Science, Geography, Climate Science or other project relevant fields. Knowledge in tropical agriculture and/or sustainable development is valuable
- Experience in project management, and development of research proposals is required
- Experience and interest in stakeholder engagement as well as communicating scientific results to a non-scientific community
- You have knowledge or are interested in climate impacts and risk management for the agricultural sector. A good understanding of empirical research methods is valuable
- Work experience in LMICs is desirable and the willingness to travel to these countries
