**Duties**:
- Utilize and instruct others in the use of single and specialized equipment as appropriate to clinical area.
- Utilize the nursing process to identify patient problems and generate nursing diagnoses; design a plan of care, write and implement nursing orders to achieve established goals, and evaluate nursing interventions.
- Develop and initiate an innovative teaching program for patients requiring special approaches.
- Communicate progress and/or changes to the patient, family and members of the health care team.
- Make interdisciplinary referrals.
- Identify pending crisis situations and handle appropriately.
- Administer many psychotropic and complex medications via the oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, respiratory, intravenous routes.
- Make independent judgments in the administration of PRN medication.
- Utilize appropriate interview skills to identify existing and potential problems and formulate a nursing plan of care.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements in accordance with DHA Procedures Manual 6025.13, Volume 4.
- This position may require employees to be on-call on a rotational basis.

**Basic Requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Psychiatric)**:
**Degree**: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
**Licensure**: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
**Foreign Degree**: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
**Exemption**: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
**In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below**:
Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) in inpatient and/or outpatient psychiatric, mental health setting.
