In our global and diverse organization, the work environment is challenging and inspiring: you cooperate in cross-functional teams with other researchers inside and outside ABB, team up with the ABB division development teams and create the basis for future digital offerings of ABB. The solutions you develop are the starting point for novel ABB products that will create a more sustainable industry. At the ABB Corporate Research Center Germany, we research and prototype innovative technologies that shape ABB’s future product portfolio for sustainable automation, digitalization, and electrification. We work at the intersection of industrial research, end customers, start-ups, and academic institutions globally.

**Your responsibilities**:

- You scout and assess recent developments in machine learning for novel ABB products.
- You implement and adapt machine learning methods.
- You participate in agile applied-research projects and work collaboratively with international ABB divisions spanning their product development teams, end customers, partners, and relevant academic institutions.
- You build prototypes to validate concepts and solutions and highlight your work inside and outside of ABB also with customers and scientific conferences.
- You strongly develop your technical and soft skills to boost your career inside ABB.

**Your background**:

- You hold a MSc degree in computer science, data science or a related field.
- You have several years of experience in academic or applied research.
- You have strong experience in the fields of deep learning (preferably transformer models for signal data) and natural language processing.
- You have hands-on experience in programming machine learning solutions in Python, e.g. PyTorch, as well as good hands-on experience working with data from process plants and factories, especially signal and alarm & event data.
- You can communicate your results to various audiences including technical experts, stakeholders in business and management and scientific community.
- We value cross-cultural communication skills, creativity, initiative, enthusiasm, and result-orientation to bring your innovations towards new products and digital offerings.
- Proficient English skill is mandatory, additional language skills are beneficial.
