The Fraunhofer IGCV is the first production technology Fraunhofer institute in Bavaria. We are shaping the future of efficient engineering, interconnected production, and intelligent multimaterial solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe. The team "Fiber Placement & Composite Molding" develops robotic processes and production methods for the production of high-performance fiber-reinforced composites (CFK). To ensure production quality, continuous process monitoring using various sensors is necessary. The sensor data can then be coupled with the machine data to obtain a digital twin of the product.
We are looking for a student assistant who would like to accompany us on our further successful path, at the earliest possible date.
**What you will do**
- Introduction to the topics process monitoring in Automated Fiber Placement
- Support in the integration of sensors and cameras for data acquisition and processing
- Support in post-processing (filtering, merging, etc.) and visualization of the acquired sensor data
- Transfer of an existing method for determining the quality of materials from stereoscopy to the laser light-sectioning method within the thesis
- Develop Methods for defect detection and classification
**What you bring to the table**
- Currently enrolled in computer science, sensor systems, or a comparable field
- Profound knowledge of the programming languages Python and/or C++
- Experience in sensory and data processing
- Ideally, first experience in Image and point cloud processing and analysis
- Reliable and independent way of working
