The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS - e. V. develops efficient analytical methods for health research. Thus, it contributes to the improvement of the prevention, early diagnosis, and therapy of diseases like cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases or cancer. Overall, the institute strives to advance precision medicine by combining knowledge from different fields such as biology, chemistry, pharmacology, physics, and computer science. ISAS is a member of the Leibniz Association and is publicly funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states.

We search for a DFG-funded project. This project will aim to structurally and spatially resolve the altered lipid metabolism in cancerous tissue by mass spectrometric means.

**Your tasks**:

- Studying lipid alterations in cancer tissue by mass spectrometry imaging.
- Testing and developing novel sample preparation strategies as well as matrix materials for mass spectrometry imaging of tissue sections.
- Structure elucidation of phospholipids in cancerous tissues
- Collaborative research with medical science researchers
- Data analysis of large spatially resolved lipidomics data sets

**Your profile**:

- Good understanding of Analytical Chemistry of MALDI MS and ESI MS
- Good skills in organic synthesis and derivatization are beneficial
- Basic understanding of lipid metabolism is preferable
- Experience with mass spectrometric equipment is beneficial

The salary will be according to the German TV-L. The part-time position (65%) is offered for three years. The position is available immediately. The time limitation of the contract is based on the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
