About the role
In this role, you will provide legal advice to NE HR team on labor law matters and commercial legal advice on key projects, supporting EE L4 market counsels.
The role requires a high level of professionalism and integrity, with strong analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills. In particular in the area of commercial law and labor law.
You will need to have a commercial pragmatic approach and ability to explain legal concepts in a clear and practical manner. You will liaise with external advisors, work in harmony with market counsels and take initiative. You also need to be able to flex your style to suit context; be flexible in your approach to supporting different priorities and be confident to engage diverse audiences. For this, having excellent interpersonal and influencing skills is a must.
Purpose of the Role and important Dimensions
The role will support the achievement of the NE and EE growth strategy and Diageo’s Performance Ambition through providing creative, pragmatic and efficient legal support for long-term, sustainable success. This will include:
- Advising NE market on EU labor law matters by partnering with external counsels and ensuring that the internal perspective is included- Advising NE market on all types of EU labor law, including investigations, regulatory requirements and litigation- Monitor and provide updates on changes to the regulatory landscape,- Supporting EE L4 Market Counsel on advising commercial issues (e.g. RTM transformation, third party distributor agreements in former CIS states, NRM initiatives and key partner and supplier relationships)- Supporting EE L4 Market Counsel on the Draft Cocktails project- Assist with development of team know-how and lead the processes for document and knowledge management, and records retention- Work closely with specialist global legal function teams and especially with Europe Labor Law Counsel.

Always supported by our key outcome of “Credibility & Trust: trusted by all partners for doing business the right way, from grain to glass”.- Reputation Management: Support the creation and embedding of great governance, effective compliance and risk management. Providing proactive input to prevent and address key business risks, managing issues to mitigate impact.- Cost Management: Contribute to Productivity agenda. Ensure effective management of end-to-end legal spend, and handling variances to budget to deliver savings. Ensure all external legal budget and spend data are recorded on Busylamp and, in collaboration with Procurement, use appropriate levers to achieve savings.- People Growth: have a meaningful dedication to personal growth and capability building, aligned behind and accountable for business performance.
About you- EU qualified lawyer, with labor law and commercial law practice experience, gained in leading law firm or in-house.- Excellent track record of managing legal agenda, dealing effectively with external legal service providers.- Excellent knowledge and understanding of legal issues relevant to the commercial businesses.- Proficiency in English. German will be an asset.
