The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany is the largest solar research institute in Europe. We are searching for a student assistant with the opportunity to write the master's thesis with the topic "Solvent systems for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells".

You will contribute to the department's goals of developing new solutions in the growing field of perovskite photovoltaic research. In our international team, we are constantly working on the optimization of the solar cell stack and coating technology to increase both the efficiency and stability of the devices as well as to develop scalable manufacturing processes. This is where we need your support

**What you will do**
- In your thesis you will manufacture and optimize highly efficient perovskite solar cells.
- As part of an international research project, you will investigate new solvents and their mixtures for the production of perovskite solar cells.
- As part of your thesis, you will investigate the deposited perovskite layers by spectroscopic and microscopic methods
- By JV measurement, spectroscopic and microscopic methods you will characterize the complete fabricated solar cells.
- During your thesis you correlate the quality of the deposited layers, solvent properties and performance of the manufactured solar cells.
- After processing the measurement data, you interpret your results and summarize them in a comprehensible way.
- You present your results in internal meetings and exchange scientific information with national and international project partners.

**What you bring to the table**
- You are studying physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field of study.
- You have basic knowledge of solar cell physics. Previous experience in coating technology or functional thin film analysis is helpful, but not required.
- Ideally, you have already worked practically or have knowledge of preparative or analytical laboratory methods such as rotational deposition, vapor phase deposition, characteristic curve measurement or spectroscopic methods.
- It is important to you to be part of your team, but you also plan and complete tasks independently and with high quality.
- You have a sure instinct and accuracy when carrying out experimental work and critically evaluate your results.
- The routine handling of Microsoft Office is a matter of course for you. You have already worked with programs for the analysis of data, preferably also with Origin.
- You have a very good command of English.
