Job Description

Vertex is looking for enthusiastic, curious and dedicated students to join our International Patient Engagement (IPE) team for a working student. This based position is located at our office in Munich, Germany. Applicants should be undertaking a relevant degree qualification and ideally have a strong interest in patient engagement in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.

Role Description
- The IPE team is responsible for bringing the patients’ perspective into Vertex’s work by establishing meaningful collaborations with patient communities at in-country and above-country level. IPE works across the whole lifecycle of therapies and medicines developed by Vertex. By joining IPE, you will learn how Vertex engages externally and how such engagement shapes decisions across the whole lifecycle of Vertex’s medicines and therapies, from early research to post-marketing.

In this role you will get the opportunity to learn about our industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be learning more about patient organizations and perspective while working alongside some of the brightest people in the industry. Students can expect to be challenged by their work and feel valued by the Vertex community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in meetings with patient organizations online and on-site-
- Organizes and communicates Vertex´s commitment for the community e.g. to Charity Events for CF across Germany internally and externally-
- Integrates information from stakeholders into departmental and country reports-
- Performs Desk Research for relevant questions-
- Coordinates and helps prepare meeting materials, including meeting agenda, talking points, presentations, pre-reads, minute
- or note-taking and assembling/editing PowerPoint presentations-
- Operates with a high level of integrity and complianceKey Requirements:
- Currently undertaking studies, BA or MA, in a scientific or social science related discipline-
- Strong interest and fundamental understanding of what Patient Engagement delivers in the biotech industry-
- A high level of energy and passion toward patients, science and public health-
- Must be independently motivated and a strong team player-
- Demonstrates problem solving skills-
- Good written, communication, project management and presentation skills-
- Ability to meet deadlines on multiple items-
- Developed time management skills and organizational skills to prioritize work and/or multi-task-
- Keen attention to detail-
- Established knowledge of Microsoft Office products-
- Fluent in both German and English-
- Fluent in Spanish would be a plusStart Date: January
