Join us as Head of Credit, NatWest Bank Europe GmbH
- Leading a team of international credit professionals, you’ll be responsible for delivering the pan-European structured finance focussed credit strategy and setting the risk appetite of NatWest Bank Europe
- This is a vital and highly visible role in our set growth agenda in which you’ll play a leading role in formulating the risk appetite for sectors, asset classes, and countries, providing suitable sector insight and challenge

**What you'll do**:
As Head of Credit, you’ll be responsible for undertaking risk assessments on a broad range of structured finance transactions and corporate borrowers. You’ll ensure the NatWest Bank Europe’s credit team is competent and has clearly defined responsibilities, both collectively and individually in line with the five pillars of supervision excellence.

You’ll contribute to devising a proactive subsidiary credit risk strategy, overlaying the bank-wide sector and asset class approach to meet objectives. You’ll also actively partner with first line of defence stakeholders in managing the risk-reward trade-off and directly work with, and where necessary lead business units in structuring and delivering lending transactions.

In addition to this, you’ll:

- Ensure that all credit stewardship responsibilities are actioned as necessary, take a direct role in maintaining the integrity of all risk data systems, and approve risk exposures within a delegated authority
- Ensure the achievement of agreed service level standards and business unit satisfaction with service levels provided, improving unit efficiency
- Build strong working partnerships with relationship managers, line managers, and other professional contacts to achieve business targets without compromising credit quality
- Identify problem cases and create effective problem management strategies, leading to tighter controls
- Supervise direct reports and their activities effectively and support and encourage employee development by agreeing financial and non-financial objectives

**The skills you'll need**:
We’re looking for someone with proven leadership experience in teams delivering credit risk management and portfolio management in a financial services organisation. You’ll have asset class experience as well as a background in leveraged finance, project finance, infrastructure finance, and ideally asset finance. Along with well-developed technical lending and risk assessment skills across a range of product and sectors, you’ll have extensive experience in the banking sector and within a credit risk function.

You’ll also bring:

- Comprehensive knowledge of loan and banking products and detailed knowledge of credit policy and procedures
- A good understanding of legal, financial, and sector developments in the corporate segment
- Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English and German
- Experience of relevant European legal policies, regulatory and statutory obligations, and risk management
- A degree or equivalent professional experience
