The Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology is looking for a Researche assistant.
The Fraunhofer IGCV is the first production engineering Fraunhofer facility in Bavaria. We are shaping the path to the future of efficient engineering, networked production and intelligent multi-material solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe. Our main customers come from the mechanical engineering and plant construction sectors as well as the aerospace and automotive industries. For the Recycling of Composites department, we are looking for a student assistant as soon as possible who would like to accompany us on our further successful path.
This thesis will be jointly supervised by the (Innovative Electric Hybrid Vehicles) IEHV Research group from the Politecnico di Torino and the Fraunhofer IGCV. One part of thesis (~3-4 months) will be completed in Augsburg, the other part in Turin (~3-4 months). The IEHV Research group from Politecnico di Torino and Fraunhofer IGCV are working on the material development of green composites. The activity consists in defining a new methodology to design innovative components by using recycled fibre materials. The Fraunhofer IGCV will share its expertise in the experimental and manufacturing activities, while IEHV group in FEM modelling.
**What you will do**
- Independent experiments in the manufacturing and processing of rCF nonwovens (especially sample manufacturing and preparation)
- Material testing for FEM model calibrations
- FEM material cards definitions
- Virtual model validation vs experimental test on simulacrum
**What you bring to the table**
- Studies in the field of (mechanical) engineering, engineering sciences, material sciences or similar
- First experiences in the field of composites helpful
- Experienced in working with FEM software (Altair Hyperworks, LS-Dyna)
- Knowledge in Italian language useful, fluent in English required
- Reliable and independent way of working
- Interest in teamwork
