In the group "System Theory and Partial Differential Equations,", intensive research is conducted on the analysis and mathematical aspects of control and regulation of differential-algebraic and partial differential equation systems, particularly concerning mechanics and electrodynamics. The position is situated within the project "Adaptive Control of Coupled Rigid and Flexible Multibody Systems with Port-Hamiltonian Structure," funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The goal here is the analysis and systems theoretic treatment of coupled systems comprising differential-algebraic and partial differential equations that arise in multibody dynamics. This project involves collaboration with engineering institutes.

This is a qualification position in line with the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG) for advanced academic training.

For postdoctoral researchers, this is a qualification position, typically for a duration of 3 years, designed to contribute to qualification for an academic career path. The position should be full-time (100% of working hours).

Your tasks

**Your job tasks include**:
Analysis for infinite-dimensional systems that arise in modeling coupled multibody systems, specifically:

- Examination of fundamental properties crucial for control such as internal dynamics and relative degree
- Development of a theory on tracking and system inversion
- Active participation and research in the field of 'System Theory and Partial Differential Equations'
- Publication of research findings in specialized journals and presentation at national and international professional conferences.

**Profile**:
**For being part of the selection process is needed**:
The position requires an individual with a Master's degree in Mathematics. Profound knowledge in functional analysis and differential equations, as well as proficient English language skills in both written and verbal forms, are prerequisites.

**Following competences are desirable**:

- In-depth knowledge in the field of infinite-dimensional and port-Hamiltonian systems
- Proficiency in modeling multibody systems within a port-Hamiltonian structure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
