**Duties**:

- Operates heavy equipment to maintain multiple golf courses. Duties include mowing, pushing, pulling, piling, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, or earth, to accomplish landscaping, filling, digging of ditches and holes, and hauling.
- Incumbent also clears brush, rocks, and removes tree stumps. Equipment used includes lawn mowers, tractors, fork lifts, aerators, verti-cut machines, backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and rollers.
- Applies fertilizer, sow seeds, and sods needed areas. Sprays or applies insecticides and herbicides, as directed. When required, waters different areas of golf course.
- Performs necessary repair and maintenance work on equipment.

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Will be required to pass a physical examination. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
- Heavy physical effort is used while constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs, to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments.
- Considerable strain may be caused by the constant vibration of equipment, and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces.
- Operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions while operating controls and attachments.
- Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, and rolling surfaces.
- Incumbent is exposed to injury due to the possibility of equipment turning over. Subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust.
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be at least 18 years of age.

**Qualifications**:

- 1. Experience operating and performing minor maintenance on field-type tractors and associated equipment.
2. Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe
for operation.
3. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment.
5. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.
6. Experience using knowledge of the nature of the soil and features of the terrain to determine the proper approach according to the conditions of the surface and subsurface.
7. Experience handling different sets of controls for the operations of tractor equipment and attachments.
8. Ability to move equipment about in confined areas.

**Best Qualifying Criteria**:
Possess at least (6) six months experience with golf equipment maintenance.

**PCS Costs**
- Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

**FWS Allowances and Differentials**
- All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
- Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
