**Duties**:
- Serves as a Network Engineer/Architect, senior technical expert/advisor, and key staff Network Engineer/IT Specialist.
- Planning, directing, conducting, coordinating and advising on projects and programs of broad scope and unusual complexity.
- Work involves enterprise telecommunications networks, systems, engineering and technical integration in Army and Joint telecommunications.
- Performs advanced hands-on technical skills associated with the configuration, installation, testing and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, servers, etc.
- Maintains knowledge and skills comparable to the Cisco Certified Network Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, or equivalent technical proficiency level.
- Maintains knowledge of configuration, installation, testing and troubleshooting of standard/common Campus Area Network and Wide Area Network equipment and technologies.
- Performs applied research, analysis and engineering in support of technical projects.
- Develops/delivers network and system engineering and implementation documentation and plans such as Engineering Assessments, System Design Plans, Engineering Implementation Plans, etc.
- Researches state-of-the-art technology for potential usage in the European Theater and develops recommendations for technology insertion programs.

- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a no-fee United States Passport.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Tier 5 background investigation.
- Incumbent must pass urinalysis testing prior to the appointment, per the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- This position is designated as a DoD 8570-01-M Information Assurance Technical Level II (or greater) and requires certain certifications be obtained within 6 months of appointment.
- TDY is approximately 25%.
- This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: (1) assisting in the engineering and implementation of communications systems and in the selection of equipment to support the establishment of communications switched networks for voice as well as data, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) and computer systems; (2) developing and reviewing engineering and installation drawings and engineering specifications; (3) developing a detailed implementation plan for both long
- and short-range engineering programs and projects; (4) and evaluating and determining courses of action of proposals pertinent to the communications field which could affect the design and compatibility of future information systems.
**Basic Requirement for Computer Engineer/Electronics Engineer**:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology; OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
