**The Position**:
Discovering and developing innovative therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders is a priority for Boehringer Ingelheim. The Central Nervous System (CNS) Research Department at BI offers the opportunity to contribute to drug discovery in a dynamic, highly collaborative, and multidisciplinary environment using state-of-the-art technologies.

We are seeking a talented Laboratory Assistant to join our team of experts, dedicated to researching brain circuits and systems underlying neuropsychiatric disorders using electrophysiological techniques.

***Tasks & responsibilities**:

- In your new role, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, evaluating, and reporting in-vitro electrophysiological experiments.
- Additionally, you will be responsible for the sterile cultivation of required cell lines or primary cultures from relevant tissues.
- You will assist in setting up and improve state-of-the-art technologies to investigate ion channels involved in neuropsychiatric disorders.
- Furthermore, you will continue to expand your knowledge through literature studies and participation in scientific discussions.
- Moreover, you will present your research activities at internal meetings and support the publication of your results in publications or at scientific conferences.

**Requirements**:

- Completed Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Pharmacology or a similar field; alternatively completed scientific vocational training with several years of experience
- Familiarity with sterile cell cultivation techniques and a good understanding of expression of ion channels or other receptors in heterologous expression systems such as HEK cells
- Experience in cultivating cell lines and/or primary cells
- Experience in electrophysiological techniques and corresponding data analysis is beneficial
- Knowledge of neurophysiology with an understanding of brain circuits and background information on psychiatric disorders is a plus
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
