**Masters student within the field of Human Factors Engineering - Immersive Environments for Flying 360° Cameras (d/f/m)**:

You will support the department Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck (GE) in Manching.
The team Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck (GE) is responsible for the development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for different platforms such as fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, or ground control stations. The associated process covers requirements engineering, HMI design, specification, and assessments for validation and verification. These evaluations require a wide range of tools and methods for representative results.
Your exciting topic:
Human Factors Evaluation of a Control Concept for the Teleoperation of a Distant Sensor
The main objective of this thesis is to gain detailed information in the field of operating drone sensors from a ground station. Although current ground stations implementations are available, a different task allocation might require another design of the input device and its operation in the future. Therefore, we want to investigate if a new design to control a sensor turret can be handled successfully over time by operators. Thereby, the control laws of the input device shall support the operator during task execution.

**Your tasks and responsibilities**:
- Analyze current state of the art with respect to teleoperation of drones (control laws, latencies etc.) considering e.g. the space context;
- Conduct a task analysis of the camera turret operation;
- Set-up an evaluation framework to test system performance;
- Design and implement the control laws for the input device;
- Define and implement tasks into the framework;
- Carry out an assessment with a respective set of operators, analyze, and interpret gathered data and
- Document and discuss research topics.
**Desired skills and qualifications**:
- Enrolled full time student within Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science or similar field of study
- Nice to have: experience in the handling and analysis of scientific studies
- Nice to have: first programming experience (e.g. C++)
- English: fluent
- German: basic knowledge
