The **research group of Prof. Nikolaos Perakakis** at the **Institute of Pancreatic Islet Research** focuses on the identification and investigation of important regulators of energy balance in humans, by combining both animal and human studies in a clinical translational approach. We aim to reveal the pathophysiological role and predictive value of important hormones/biomolecules for the manifestation and progress of common metabolic diseases (i.e. type 2 diabetes mellitus [T2DM], obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease [NAFLD]) and their complications.

Your tasks
- Analyse the function of immune system both ex vivo (cell culture, tissues) and in vivo (mice)
- Analyse metabolic outcomes (systemic, tissue-specific, i.e. liver, adipose tissue) in different models
- Biochemical, histological and cell physiological approaches
- Contribute to the performance of clinical physiology studies
- Processing and analysis of microscopic images
- Data analysis both from mouse as well as from human studies
**Profile**:
- A strong background in immunology, metabolism, cellular and molecular biology
- Experience in isolating and characterizing immune cells using multi-colour flow cytometry is a must
- Ability to work independently, high motivation, creative thinking, team spirit and excellent communication skills
**Desirable qualifications**
- Experience in metabolism and in the field of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity, diabetes and in relevant tissues or cell lines (hepatic, adipose tissue) is a strong advantage
- Experience with in vivo animal models (mouse) is a strong advantage. FELASA accreditation or a similar qualification is a plus
- Experience with infection models is a plus
- Up to 3 years of working experience as Postdoc
